Rogues' Memories of Barbados Adventures.
This is a whimsical story of an outrageous and balmy man who had a great spirit of adventure and a ridiculous sense of fun. Rex Wotton managed the West Coast Watersports center at Coral Reef hotel. It was only a short walk from Settlers Beach. They took hotel guest diving and on daytime and sunset cruises along the coast. He was an expert seaman trained by the Royal Merchant Navy in all matters of navigation, and marine work. Rex Wotton was one of the most charming Rogues of Barbados. He had a woderful sense of fun and used it to win over every situation. He was independent at an early age and often took off for days at a time, to camp by Joes' river , catching fish for dinner. He built campfires from coconut husk and twigs and cooked his catch with breadfruit, wild herbs, plantain, and edible vines. He ate mangoes, and local berries like fat pork, and sea grapes, that grow along the beach.
Once, when a girl thrust a drink at him, he simply dumped the ice water of a wine cooler over them. When needled by a comedian who made a cheeky comment about him, Rex returned the impudence by taking away the jesters' legendary green top hat. Right past security and the gatekeeper, he strolled with a provocative air and his roguish smiling laugh.
It was his manner, he did not let much pass him and typically returned rudeness with a dual measure of the same, but it was enfolded in charm and style. He scarcely showed annoyance, but it was at hand when needed.
